GSUMC – Role Description

Role:                  Financial Secretary (¶249.4)

 

Ministry Area:     Resource Ministries – Finance Committee

 

Purpose 

 

Term:                  3 years


Role Summary:

This person takes the money from the tellers and makes the appropriate deposit(s) to the bank every week. A record of the deposit(s) is made to the treasurer and the pastor. The financial secretary should also send acknowledgment of receipt of memorial gifts to appropriate family members.


Responsibilities:

     1.  Ensure that offerings are properly recorded and deposited.

     2.  Provide confidential record of giving to individual donors.

     3.  Member of Finance Committee and the Administrative Council.


Skills:

     1.  Good listening skills.

     2.  Organizational skills.

     3.  Good interpersonal skills.

     4.  Knowledge of good accounting practices.

     5.  Able to maintain confidentiality.
