GSUMC – Role Description

Role:                      Ministry Area Coordinator

 

Ministry Area:        Hospitality; Faith Development; Worship & Prayer; Mission, Service & Witness

 

Term:                    2 years (1 year as assistant coordinator, 1 year as coordinator; may be renewed)

 

Purpose:          To coordinate servant ministry in the particular area.


Role Summary:

      1.   Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator sit on Council      

      2.   Provide “high-level” report to council on activities, ministry, and progress on goals

      3.   Coordinator is responsible for leadership of activities in ministry area 


Responsibilities:

      1.   Suggest annual goals for area of ministry to Council

            a.   Review progress toward ministry goals, report to Council

      2.   Recruitment

            a.   Recruits people for tasks, with support of Lay Leadership Committee

            b.   Encourage newcomer participation in the life of the church

            c.   Church-wide canvass for ministry passions provided by Lay Leadership cmte

            d.   Open meetings for all interested persons

      3.   Training

            a.   Provides training for specific components of ministry area activities

      4.   Communication

            a.   Communicates ministry area activities to the congregation

            b.   Provides training, education, and/or encouragement to congregation as needed

      5.   Budget

            a.   Budget is aligned to ministry area's endorsed goals

            b.   Coordinator has authority to change amounts within area (shift funds)

      3.   Good interpersonal skills.

      4.   Multi-media communications skills.
