GSUMC – Role Description

We are called to love, worship, and serve as we seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

 

Role:                   Children’s Ministry Organizer

 

Ministry Area:     Faith Development

 

Purpose: 

 

Term:                  Annual, may be renewed.


Role Summary:

This person is responsible for the church’s ministry to children. This person should have a love for children and good organization skills. A prior knowledge of drama is a plus.


Each organizer is to study the needs of the age group, and coordinate the church’s ministry to that age group. The family organizer does the same for ministry to family needs. Three goals should be sought with each group.

     1.  To foster fellowship among the group

     2.  To help the group grow in faith

     3.  To engage them in Christian ministry


These organizers should make the church aware of resources and opportunities provided by outside agencies (such as Conference-sponsored events for marriage enrichment, parenting classes, youth events, and so forth).


Responsibilities:

     1.  Organize the children’s participation in the Palm Sunday celebration (acquiring 100 Emerald Leaf palms for use).

     2.  Selecting the play, directing and coordinating the Children’s Christmas Pageant.

     3.  Coordinate and organize preparations for Family Night Supper in December.

          a.  Contact Santa regarding his appearance at the supper.

          b.  Coordinate the youth in making 100 goodie bags for the children.

     3.  Good interpersonal skills.

     4.  Multi-media communications skills.
